.99 continues its run with Warehouse Stationery win—UPDATED

It seems we can chalk up yet another win for .99, with the retail specialist thought to have taken the Warehouse Stationery business in a competitive pitch, beating out incumbent M&C Saatchi and rumoured contenders of Y&R and DDB.

Head of marketing Cathy Atkins was unable to be contacted, and it was a no comment from .99, but it’s thought the retail specialist was able to reassure Warehouse Stationery around its week in, week out retail capabilities and how good its systems were to do that.

After a string of losses in 2011, including Air New Zealand and Vodafone, .99 has come steaming back with a string of wins, including Sunday Star Times, Genesis and Tower (where it also beat out M&C Saatchi for the spoils).

Warehouse Stationery spent over $20 million on advertising last year according to Nielsen AIS figures (which are based on ratecard spend) and it’s thought to be worth around $1 million to the winning agency.

The pitch didn’t involve media, which is held by Starcom, or below-the-line, which is held by Federation.

UPDATE: Here’s the official release:

Warehouse Stationery Limited has appointed .99 as its new creative
agency. The appointment follows a pitch for the business, including
incumbent M&C Saatchi and two others.

Warehouse Stationery Head of Marketing, Cathy Atkins, says, “We
appreciate the significant contribution M&C Saatchi has made to our
business over the past 4 years.  We’ve enjoyed working with them and their
understanding of our business and commitment to our account has helped deliver
some great successes to date. As we enter a new stage in the journey of
our brand, we are looking forward to working with .99 given their particular
set of capabilities and strong track record with other leading New Zealand
retail brands.”

.99 will provide creative services for all above the line advertising
and letterbox.
