Strategy gets best view for next episode of the Prentice

Independent design and ad agency Strategy has snaffled Ogilvy New Zealand’s recently departed head of planning Michael Prentice. He will take up the role of group strategic director for the Auckland, Christchurch and Sydney offices and will also be general manager of the Christchurch office.

Geoff Cranko, managing partner at Strategy, says the company is privileged to have someone of Prentice’s calibre join them and is sure their clients will greatly benefit from his significant marketing expertise.

For the past 10 years Prentice has held strategic leadership positions and developed brand and advertising strategies for some of New Zealand’s most recognisable brands, including finance, travel and FMCG companies. He has twice been awarded the prestigious Grand Effie for Sustained Success and has won the the Best in Show category twice.

Prentice won the Effie awards for his work with Wendy’s in 2002, Rabobank in 2007 and Kiwibank’s campaign in 2009. And in 2006 he was selected as an international juror for the Media Lions at the Cannes Advertising Festival.

Prior to his role with Ogilvy, he held several senior media roles within a number of agencies, including New Zealand’s second largest independent media placement organisation, Media Decisions.

Outside work, Prentice is a committed supporter of, and contributor to, New Zealand’s arts industry. He has sat on numerous boards and he is currently on the Arts Board of Creative New Zealand.
