APN Outdoor Group Limited has announced the appointment of Philip Knox as chief financial officer, effective from Monday.

APN Outdoor chief executive officer and managing director, James Warburton, says the company are excited to have someone of Knox’s calibre join our team.

“I am thrilled to welcome him back to media where his passion lies. Philip has great CFO experience having helped lead companies through high-growth, capital investment and M&A periods to transform organisations into data-oriented environments.”

Knox has more than 30 years’ experience in CFO, board and finance leadership roles including 11 years as chief financial officer of Austar United Communications up to its sale to Foxtel, and nine years at Ten Network Holdings.

Resignation

The chief executive of media monitoring company Isentia, John Croll, has resigned.

In a statement posted to the ASX, Croll says after almost 20 years as chief executive he believed it was time for a change.

“I have been incredibly privileged to lead the talented and dedicated team at Isentia. Over the next six months, I will continue to focus on implementing strategic initiatives that will improve the performance of our media intelligence business.”

Croll will remain with the company for the next six months while the company looks for a replacement. His resignation comes after eight years as Isentia’s chief executive.

New director

Left-to-Right: George Mackenzie, Mark Foster and Adam Stevens.

Australian-based production company Goodoil has added director Adam Stevens to its list of directors, as it opens an Auckland office.

The office will be headed up by business director George Mackenzie and executive producer Mark Foster.

Stevens’ work has been recognised at major international award shows such as AWARD, AXIS, LIAs, Ciclope Festival, New York Festivals and Cannes, and he directed the L&P ‘World Famous in New Zealand’ and Steinlager’s ‘Born To Defy’ ads.

Goodoil’s executive producer Sam Long says having Stevens come on board is exciting, but also humbling.

“He’s a master craftsman and can spin a tale with the very best of them. We’ve always been huge fans of his work and to have him join Goodoil is a very proud day for us. Add to that the talents of George and Mark and I think we’ll have a huge amount to offer New Zealand creativity.”

Production power

Fish & Clips have appointed a new head of content, Saffron Jackson.

Jackson will be responsible for heading up Fish&Clips, producing advertising content for all platforms, and leading the independent director roster out of Flying Fish headquarters on Ponsonby Rd.

Prior to joining Fish & Clips Jackson started her career in production in London, where she produced work for Channel 4, ITV, BBC, Five and Sky. Since living in New Zealand, Saffron has produced local shows including Real Housewives of Auckland, The Block NZ and My Kitchen Rules.

James Moore, managing director at Flying Fish, says Jackson has a diverse production background producing a breadth of dynamic content.

“We’re really excited to welcome her to the team. We’ve worked solidly over the years to evolve and grow Fish & Clips from just being about producing high-end music videos. It continues to be a great launching pad for the top-notch roster of up&coming directors. With Saffron leading the Fish & Clips team we’re really looking forward to the future with her.”

Voted in

Nick Vile, general manager of Adshel NZ has been voted as the new chairman of the Outdoor Media Association of New Zealand (OMANZ) at its latest AGM.

Vile says he is excited to play a role in bringing the direction and vision of the sector to life.

“The out-of-home market has obviously experienced impressive growth over recent years reflecting the investment OMANZ members have made in their respective offerings, but also reflects the increased importance that the medium plays in advertisers’ media channel strategy and communication plans,” Vile says.

He takes over from Wayne Chapman who has been chair of the association for the past five years.

“I would personally like to thank Wayne for his commitment to the sector over his tenure as OMANZ chairperson, he has presided over the sector during a period of unprecedented growth, and at the same time lead the evolution of his own business”.

Musical move

New York native Kristine Gonzalez has joined data-driven, creative shop EightyOne as content head.

Gonzalez has spent most of her time at Atlantic Records producing and directing music videos, most notably with rapper and musician Timbaland.

Matt West, partner at EightyOne, says Gonzalez has rubbed shoulders and worked alongside some incredible artists. “We’re delighted to welcome her into the family.”
