Movings/Shakings: December 9

Slim picking this week, but TBWA and Sydney’s Saatchi & Saatchi share the spotlight in today’s recruitment news.

WHYBINTBWA ANNOUNCES KEY APPOINTMENT

David Walden, chief executive of the TBWA Group of Companies, has announced the key appointment of Jodi Willocks to lead the ANZ Bank account.

“It’s always a great feeling when you know you’ve got the right person in the right role and Jodi fits the bill perfectly on that front, so we’re very pleased to have enticed her back to advertising after a maternity break,” says Walden.

Willocks has an impeccable pedigree, having worked previously as an Account Director at Meares Taine and then as a Group Account Director at Ogilvy Wellington (where she was part of the senior management team) on brands such as Kiwibank, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, and Housing New Zealand. In addition, she brings with her considerable international experience, having worked as Marketing Manager for HSBC Bank in London and living and studying for a number of years in the Middle East.

She replaces Anita Waugh, who assisted with the process of introducing the ANZ Bank business to WhybinTBWA back in June, when the agency formally commenced working on the account (which is run out of two hubs in Melbourne and Auckland).

“Returning to agency life work after a break meant that I really wanted to make the right choice. Devo, Andy Blood and the rest of the team have an enviable record in supporting some of New Zealand’s top companies, so after meeting with them it was actually pretty easy. I’m looking forward to adding value to both the agency and to ANZ Bank,” she says.

Jason Lonsdale

Following on from the appointment of Damon Stapleton as ECD, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia chief executive Michael Rebelo has lured long-standing planning partner Jason Lonsdale over to join him at the Sydney agency as Executive Planning Director.

Lonsdale worked closely with Rebelo at London’s Charlotte Street on T-Mobile’s multi-award winning ‘Life’s for Sharing’ campaign. Before that Lonsdale was global planning director at RKCR/Y&R on Land Rover and LG.
