Double whammy

TRA announced today it has brought on Antony Ede as its fourth partner.

A release says as head of data analytics, he has been instrumental in expanding the TRA brand into the emerging market space of behavioural data analytics and ‘big data’.

Ede returned to New Zealand after working for Dunnhumby globally, where he held senior roles as global digital analysis director and marketing analysis director. He also sits on the steering committee of the New Zealand Analytics Forum.

Antony will work alongside founding Partners Andrew Lewis, Amber Coulter and Connon Bray.

TRA has also appointed Antonia Mann to the strategy team after she returned from Mandalah Conscious Innovation in New York, the release says.

In her role as senior consultant, Mann’s role involved providing insights, intelligence and ideation to drive strategy, innovation and experiences.

Mandalah provides consulting services around business and brand innovation opportunities that generate shared value for stakeholders at the intersection of purpose and profit.

Prior to this, Mann worked in Munich Germany at CScout Global Trends & Innovation. Here she provided tailored qualitative and trend-based research to understand customer behaviour and identify growth opportunities, the release says.

New brains

Over at Dot Loves Data, three new “superbrains” have been appointed, according to a Dot Loves Data spokesperson.

These brains include Evan Blackie who’s come over from ACC after just over a year and a half there as a senior business analyst. Before ACC Blackie was at Statistics New Zealand as a statistical analyst.

The other appointment is Dmitry Shiltsov who hails from Moscow and has worked for massive Russian IT firm Kaspersky. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics.

And finally, Jenny Stevenson who had returned to the workforce after taking a break to raise her children. She was previously in the credit risk team at ANZ.

A trio of talent

Adshel New Zealand has announced a number of additions to its team to support the businesses current growth and ongoing development plans, a release says.

Mitch Campbell has joined the team as interim sales director. He joins from The Radio Bureau where he spent almost three years as an account director. Prior to The Radio Bureau, Campbell was managing director for MEC Marine Services for more than seven years. He has also worked in media sales for The New Zealand Herald, ACP Magazines and Fairfax Media. Campbell joins the team on a fixed contract, providing cover for Ben Gibb who has taken extended leave for personal reasons.

Phil Lucy has been promoted to national trading manager. He will focus on overseeing revenue management and developing pricing strategies, working closely with the Adshel revenue management team in Australia. He will also be the lead for the implementation of new sales systems and processes. Lucy has been with Adshel for almost 10 years in various sales roles. Prior to his promotion, he was Adshel’s Wellington sales manager and in his new role, he will continue to maintain and provide service to existing clients in the Wellington market.

​Adshel has also welcomed aboard Kelly Harvey as Adshel New Zealand’s marketing manager where she will be responsible for the development and implementation of the New Zealand businesses marketing strategy with a specific focus on supporting product launches, research programmes and providing support to Adshel’s client engagement activity. Harvey has worked across the various marketing positions in the New Zealand automotive and media industries including at Mercedes-Benz New Zealand, Daimler Chrysler New Zealand and TVNZ.

New shore

Ben Shaw, previously part of Independent Liquor’s marketing team as the Boundary Road Brewery marketing manager, has moved over to Comvita. StopPress has contacted Comvita but they were not willing to share what Shaw's new role will be yet.

Partners in crime

Auckland-based PR and communications business Intelligent Ink has recently partnered with the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation’s (EO) Auckland chapter to provide public relations and communications support.

A release says EO is the world’s only peer-to-peer network exclusively for entrepreneurs, and acts as a catalyst enabling entrepreneurs to learn and grow from each other via hosted events, mentorship programmes and peer-to-peer forums. “The Auckland chapter, a subset of the dynamic global network that includes over 11,000 business owners spanning 48 countries, are looking to attract quality members and retain their position as ‘the’ organisation for entrepreneurs in New Zealand.”

Representing industries as diverse as accounting and advertising, right through to global SaaS companies, EO New Zealand’s Auckland chapter recently approached boutique agency, Intelligent Ink, to continue their publicity and develop a partnership that would benefit both organisations. 

“We’re excited to partner with EO, and are looking forward to playing an instrumental role in helping them to raise their profile and sharing the success stories of their fabulous members,” Intelligent Ink director Christina Wedgwood says. “As partners, we have the opportunity to network with a wide range of motivated, growth-focused business people and are looking forward to applying the knowledge shared at EO’s seminars to our own work.”

Creative coaches

Better by Design has welcomed some new talent in the form of ten design practitioners who have joined New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Better by Design programme as design coaches to share their expertise in design and business with New Zealand companies.

These include:

  • Ben Hawkins, an industrial designer at Rinnai New Zealand who has worked with Fisher and Paykel Appliances and Valour Fireplace in Vancouver.
  • Chris Meade, is managing director of Foundational who has worked with MetService, Contact Energy and led the thinking behind the RSA’s new brand.
  • Georgina Clarke, who has been a designer with Ideo and Fahrenheit 212 in New York, and has worked with Deloitte, ASB Bank and Air New Zealand.
  • John Hatrick-Smith, a design specialist who has worked as an industrial designer for Fisher and Paykel and lead design for Kohler.
  • Mark Buntzen, a design researcher and strategist, and founder of The Distillery. Previous clients include House of Travel, ANZ Bank and Unitech.
  • Nico Neethling, a designer who has worked with companies such as AMP, Skinny Mobile and the Sustainable Business Network
  • Raul Sarrot, a strategist and creative director who is chairman of AUT Design Advisory Committee and has worked with Cossiga and Dole.
  • Rob Achten, the former creative director for Icebreaker and Wellington design agency Origin Design, he has also worked with Tuatara Breweries and Apollo Foods.
  • Stephanie Beath, a systems and complexity strategist who has worked with Land Information New Zealand, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and NZ Inland Revenue.
  • Vanessa Ceelen, who has delivered brand strategy to start-ups and not-for-profits, through to multi-billion dollar companies including TNT Post Group and Fonterra.

To succeed internationally and stay ahead of competitors, New Zealand businesses need to be constantly innovating, and these coaches will be instrumental in enabling companies to use design to transform," said Better by Design director Suzie Marsden in a release.

They do this by taking a coach not consulting approach to build the company’s own capability to take on more complex challenges as their design confidence grows.

Marketing extraordinaires 

Asia Pacific Digital Limited has announced new members of its board, Laura Ashton and Mark Dagleish as well as the retirement of David Sweet, a longstanding non-executive director.

Ashton is now the Singapore-based head of Asia Pacific and global relationship marketing at A.T. Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm with offices in more than 40 countries.

Dalgleish is a Sydney-based digital marketing entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience in marketing and communications. Dalgleish has previously built and sold two digital businesses in the UK and Australia, which were subsequently acquired by international advertising and marketing groups Interpublic and Enero.

“Laura and Mark have significant international experience as both clients and suppliers of marketing and technology services. The combination of Laura’s client-side leadership across diverse industry sectors, and Mark’s success in building and selling digital businesses, will greatly enhance the APD Board,” said Asia Pacific digital chairman Roger Sharp in a release.
