Jogging on

Marketing Association membership services and marketing director Paul Scoringe will be leaving the MA on Friday September 25 to become commercial & marketing manager at Athletics NZ.

Media shuffle

It’s thought that MediaWorks radio group marketing director Katie Mills has taken over Amanda Wilson’s role as head of marketing and publicity MediaWorks TV.

Wilson has taken up her new role of Tourism Holdings Limited head of marketing of Tourism Business.

StopPress has contacted MediaWorks for more information and is awaiting a response.

Moving right along

TVNZ marketing manager - trade, PR & brand Jo Jalfon is leaving at the end of October after being with TVNZ since December last year.

Lynley Kirk-Smith has also departed from her role at TVNZ as GM of marketing and is now at Brand New World as brand marketing professional where she has been since last month.

These departures come shortly after TVNZ's announced restructure which would see approximately 30 roles affected, StopPress reported earlier

Snakk on that

Snakk Media founder Derek Handley will step down as chairman of the mobile advertising technology company at the end of this year amid a boardroom reshuffle. The Handley family still controls around 15 percent of the NZAX-listed company.

Replacing Handley is Australian technology industry veteran Peter James, who becomes chairman and executive director – a role that will now be based in Sydney.

James’s experience includes over 20 years as a board member of a range of Australian public companies. He currently chairs ASX-listed Macquarie Telecom Group Ltd in addition to a variety of emerging digital media and technology businesses in Australia and the US. Since 2003 and until last week, he was a director of leading ASX-listed telecommunications company iiNet Ltd, recently acquired by TPG Telecom for AUD$1.5b.

Handley, who has been with Snakk since co-founding the company in 2010, will step down as a director once the board agrees an effective transition has taken place, likely by the end of 2015.

A people person

Auckland communications agency Intelligent Ink has appointed Sophia Berry-Smith to the role of PR & People Person.

Previously, she was a junior account manager at Mango Communications.

Intelligent Ink director Christina Wedgwood says Berry-Smith’s hiring will increase the firm’s capacity for PR support, networking and content marketing for their wide range of clients.

Berry-Smith has a Bachelor of Communication Studies, with a major in PR, and experience in fashion and lifestyle retail and marketing. “Sophia will be an asset to Intelligent Ink’s rapidly-growing team,” Wedgwood said.

Production guru

Anzac Ave-based Envy Studios announced Rachel Beard will be hopping onboard as senior producer/facilities manager. Previously, she was at Images & Sound for 11 years.

“Before joining Images, Rachel was freelance in the film industry in the camera department so she brings a wealth of knowledge from both sides of the industry,” says Envy head of sound & technology Vedat Kiyici.
