ICG departures

L-R: Ben Fahy and Bianca Zander

ICG Media’s business team patriarch Ben Fahy has joined Bauer Media as editorial director – current affairs (Listener, North & South, Metro). Fahy will oversee the production of a new magazine for Bauer, the Auckland Council’s Our Auckland magazine. The new partnership between the council and Bauer Media was announced this week, with the media company producing and distributing the magazine at a reduced cost to ratepayers.

The new-look magazine will launch in December.

Fahy joins Bauer after nine years working across the now ICG titles, NZ Marketing and StopPress, NZ Retail and The Register, and Idealog. Fahy started as editor/associate publisher of NZ Marketing in 2009 before taking up the role of editorial director/publisher of the Tangible Media Business Network (now known as ICG Media) in early 2015.

Long-time freelance journalist and fellow ICG Media family member Bianca Zander has left her role as editor of Little Treasures after one year at the helm of the magazine. Zander has started in the role of project manager at Auckland Council for the transition of the Our Auckland magazine to Bauer Media.

Sales appointment

Digital advertising company Exponential Interactive has announced Max Charnin as the new senior sales manager, New Zealand.

Charnin will be responsible for generating and maximising media revenues across New Zealand and developing go-to market strategy for the company’s performance and engagement video advertising solutions.

Exponential commercial director APAC Steffan Crouwel says with New Zealand brands increasingly prioritising the consumer experience comes an upswing in demand for user-centric video ad formats.

“Max’s deep digital and programmatic experience will bring further depth to our team as we continue to expand our client base across the region.”

Charnin joins the team from NZME where he was digital integration manager, leading iHeartRadio New Zealand offering and helping transition it to a full digital product. He also holds significant programmatic insights from his previous role as programmatic trading manager at Y&R.
