Google appointment

Google New Zealand has appointed Carrie Jones as the new communications manager. 

Jones previously worked as communications manager at BBC Studios in London, responsible for developing and driving the global communications strategy for global franchise brands and priority content. 

Prior to her role at the BBC, Jones spent two years at MTV Australia, managing development, implementation and execution of communication strategies for all MTV channels across Australia and New Zealand. 

Born and raised in Auckland, Jones holds a postgraduate diploma in communications management from the University Technology, Sydney and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Auckland. 

Jones says she’s looking forward to working back in her home country. 

“After some time overseas, I’m so thrilled to be coming home and joining Google New Zealand. The growing team here are doing some amazing work locally – and I’m looking forward to being part of that work and sharing those stories.”

A string of senior appoints

Fuse at OMD has added three new senior staff members to its content and social team. 

Gina Kindred has joined the Fuse team as creative director. She will head up the social production team, overseeing the creation of digital and social media content. Kindred joins the team with a background in ideation and content creation, having spent the past eight years at TVNZ Blacksand as a senior creative developing branded content. Prior to that Kindred worked as a creative director at international production house, The Sweet Shop. 

Vikesh Patel has been named Fuse’s new senior social media director, bringing with him a wealth of experience from the BBC and Disney where he worked in content and strategy for 10 years. More recently he worked in content strategy for Chemistry, MediaWorks and Westpac in New Zealand. Patel is looking forward to joining the team and will work on key accounts including McDonalds and Kiwibank. 

David Lister has been appointed head of experience – a role which will see him working across the wider OMD client base. His tasks include looking at consumer experience of campaigns across content, social and experiential. Lister has moved over from Mediacom where he was head of Mediacom Beyond Advertising for four years. Prior to that he spent eight years as general manager of a media and experiential group across South East Asia.

Fuse managing director Gina McKinnon says it is great to have three new experts on board. 

“David, Vikesh and Gina each bring something unique to our offering and we’re thrilled to have them on board.”

Solutions director named

After more than three years as the technical marketing lead at Kiwibank, Craig Osborne is joining Uprise Digital as solutions director. Osborne will be leading the delivery and operations teams to drive service innovation as Uprise expands. 

He previously has 10 years experience in head of digital roles across New Zealand and the UK. He says he worked client-side to understand more deeply the challenges facing marketing teams as they transform their strategies to be digital and data-led.

Uprise chief executive Tim Pointer says Osborne is the ideal fit for the company and what they need to grow their footprint globally. 

“We’re so excited to have Craig join the team. He not only brings a wealth of experience to scale up our operations but he’s an awesome person who genuinely lives our values.”
