Mission-driven

Bruce Pilbrow has been appointed chief marketing officer at Yellow.

Pilbrow joins the company from World Vision, where he served as general manager of marketing and engagement. He has held various marketing roles, owned and led businesses and directed organisations, including nine years with The Parenting Place.

Pilbrow says he has always been attracted to mission-driven roles that allow him to make a meaningful impact on a business, its team, and its community or industry.

“For me, taking on the chief marketing officer role at Yellow is an exciting challenge. Here we have a business that everyone knows and has engaged with, and like many other media businesses is on a transformation journey.”

Yellow’s chief executive officer, Darren Linton, says Pilbrow is a real asset to the team.

“He has lived and breathed organisational and positive change for his entire career. He gets where Yellow is going and believes in our vision of making New Zealand the most-connected country in the world. His leadership and enthusiasm will help our team in our mission to connect communities and improve the way Kiwi SMEs reach their audiences".

Exciting changes

Katy Prosser has joined marketing agency Because Australasia’s Auckland team as the new senior account manager.

Prosser will play a key role with strategic planning, client management and event delivery across a number of brands.

Bringing experience from Designworks, Katy has worked in brand experience for over 10 years across a spectrum of brands including H&M Auckland, Lindt and Pernod Ricard.

Meredith Cranmer, founder and managing director of Because Australasia, says the company is delighted to welcome Katy to the Because family.

“With her varied and impressive past industry experience, we’re confident she will be a huge asset to the team and the brands we’re privileged to work with.”

New laughs

Comedy director Dave Wood has signed with Goodoil for representation in Australia and New Zealand.

Wood says he has an appetite for comedic storytelling and that he loves getting his hands on a strong premise.

Having spent time working abroad in London and now residing back in Australia, Wood has won awards at Axis, LIA, New York festivals and British Arrows.

Goodoil’s executive producer Sam Long says comedy directors of Wood's ability only come along once in a very long while.

“Dave’s ‘Bo’ spot for Rexona and ‘Geoffrey’ for Battersea are great examples of a director knowing their craft and how to get the most out of an idea. To say we’re excited about Dave joining the roster would be an understatement.”

Wood’s producer Lee Thomson will join him at Goodoil.

New beginnings

Former managing director of GrabOne and data insight Ryan Watkins, and former GrabOne chief information officer and digital delivery manager at NZME Romi Dexter have created a ‘digital transformation agency’ called Hype & Dexter.

The agency was formed in October 2017, to focus specifically on delivering digital transformation and customer generation, and provide a consultative approach that enables clients to benefit from the team’s digital expertise.

Watkins and Dexter will be joined as directors by Alex Mackrill, former marketing communications manager for e-commerce at NZME, and Nick O’Neill, a former sales director of 90 Seconds and currently head of revenue at Customer Radar.

Watkins says the company has already taken on over a dozen clients, mainly in the B2B space.

“Now we’ve officially launched and have put a team together who will build on that, as well as leveraging our considerable real-world experience in building digital and e-commerce businesses for several years."

Promotion

Posey Wall has been appointed head of client service at Assignment in Auckland.

Wall joined Assignment as a business director in 2014.

Matt Scott, managing partner at Assignment Group/Auckland, says Wall has been a stellar performer at the agency from day one.

"Posey is an outstanding professional - clients don't just like her, they love her. And she's held in huge respect by the entire Assignment New Zealand team."

Scott says the decision to promote Posey Wall came off the back of rapid growth over the last few months.

"We've had a great run of new business, and our existing clients are growing - so, we thought it was a good opportunity to recognise stellar talent, like Posey, and structure the agency a little differently in order to create a tight leadership team focused on driving the agency's success."

Assignment Group New Zealand chief executive officer, Peter Biggs, says Wall will join the agency's national leadership team.

"It's fitting recognition of Posey's contribution to the agency and an opportunity to grow the next generation of leaders at Assignment.”
