Carat New Zealand

Carat New Zealand has welcomed two senior hires to the business - Chrissy Rajala and Silvia Kusic.

Silvia Kusic and Chrissy Rajala

Rajala joins as business director, bringing with her international experience amassed in the US at L’Oréal, the National Hockey League and, most recently, Mindshare.

Kusic is stepping into the role of digital director to inform the strategic direction of Carat New Zealand’s key Holden and L’Oréal accounts. She joins from FCB Auckland.

Commenting on the appointments, general manager of Carat New Zealand Alex Lawson, says she is thrilled to have secured two great talents like Kusic and Rajala to join the team here at Carat.

"Their diverse backgrounds and experience, from both a New Zealand and global standpoint, make them quintessentially the type of people we want to have working with us. I’m looking forward to seeing what they will deliver for the clients lucky enough to have them working on their business.”

Stepping into the driver's seat

NZME has a new general manager, digital ventures—Driven, in Janet Smith.

Smith has most recently been with Fairfax Media, initially in a commercial transformation role and was later promoted to national sales director responsible for driving direct revenue across New Zealand.

Prior to this, Smith spent 17 years with Trader Media Group in the UK in various senior management positions.

Now, Smith will be reporting to NZME chief digital officer Laura Maxwell.

Maxwell says Smith’s experience and track record will make her a valuable lead for NZME’s automotive vertical.

A pair of appointments

Pure SEO, search engine optimisation and marketing specialists, have announced two internal promotions.

Brett Langois has been promoted to SEO and content manager, and Angelica Bernardes has been promoted to Adwords team lead.

Announcing the appointments, Pure SEO's chief executive Richard Conway says "As an Asia-Pacific Tech Fast 500 company, growth, innovation and development is a key part of our culture.  This is reflected in our policy of encouraging and supporting our people to advance their careers within the business."

Additional role

Casey Eden, managing director at Neighbourly has also been appointed Commercial Director - New Business as part of Stuff's Revenue Office leadership team.

Eden will continue in his role at Neighbourly while his new one will focus on acquiring new business and customers. This includes testing innovative digital products, trialing new business and sales processes, and accelerating the growth of automated and programmatic revenue streams.

Robert Hutchinson, Stuff's chief revenue officer, says Eden has been instrumental in a number of well-known Kiwi tech start-ups, including Finda, GrabOne and Neighbourly, and has experience in the establishment of new and innovative revenue channels.

"We all congratulate him in his new role."

A new direction

Awarded director Luke Shanahan has signed with Thick as Thieves for New Zealand representation.

His work includes Holden ‘Twitch’ and the playful Wrigley’s ‘Say Hello To Fresh’.

Following on from a background creating internationally recognised and awarded short films and music clips, Shanahan now brings another dimension to his work with his debut feature Rabbit.

Set for theatrical release mid-year, Rabbit is a psychological thriller about a young woman searching for her twin sister.
