Movings/Shakings: 18 September

Musical chairs

NZME has made changes to the structure of the agency team, following the shift of former head of agency Matt Headland to the position of chief commercial officer.

Chris Rudd has moved into the new role of acting head of audience and team lead of agency, running the day to day of the Auckland-based agency team. He joins the senior leadership and commercial teams.

Rudd has worked across the media industry for over 20 years, holding roles with ACP magazines, including head of key accounts, before moving to APN Media as a sales consultant in May 2011. He was part of the first integrated Agency team at APN in September 2012, as a key account manager before being promoted to group sales manager and then-group account director.

Also moving is Paul Hancox, who’s stepped into the new role of acting head of agency, enterprise, strategy and planning. In addition, he will continue his work with commercial partnerships and key customer acquisition and will head up the commercial strategy and planning team led by Fiona Hamilton.

Hancox began his career at TRN as sales manager at Radio Sport. After an eight-year tenure, he moved to Mediaworks in 2007, working in a range of responsibilities and roles before he returned to NZME to take up the newly created position of head of enterprise with NZME in July this year.

Both Rudd and Hancox have many years’ experience working in agency sales and held previous roles within NZME.

A senior hire

Mediacom has a new client service director in Craig Marshall.

Joining from TVNZ where he’s been since 2011, most recently as group account director, Marshall has 15 years’ experience within the media and communications industry.

In his new role, he will be focusing on enhancing the agency’s client partnerships and will work actively with teams to address and answer client’s changing needs.

Marshall will report directly to managing director Matthew Vogts, who says it’s chuffed to have a new team member on board.

“Craig brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team as he has built a reputation as a trusted strategic counsel to senior clients… At MediaCom, we firmly believe that in the rapidly changing marketing landscape, it’s people that make the difference. We have a very simple philosophy: People first, better results. It is the calibre of our team and the partnerships that we build with clients that will drive their business success.”

An experienced arrival

Digital specialist agency JustOne has appointed Clare McCracken to the role of senior account director.

She brings over 14 years’ experience in marketing communications with a focus on digital, having worked in senior roles at TBWA, DDB and Contagion.

She’s key accounts across a range of categories including Telecom/Spark, Tourism New Zealand, ANZ, ASB, Precision Seafood Harvesting, Lion Breweries and Vice Australia New Zealand.

About the new hire, managing director Ben Goodale says McCracken’s strong digital experience complements the agency’s offering as data, CRM and loyalty experts.

“We’ve had the good fortune of working with Clare previously when she contracted with us a few years ago, and we were thrilled we were able to offer her a role here now, as I’ve long wanted to bring Clare into JustOne. Attracting talent of the calibre of Clare is very exciting, especially as we continue to frame the business around the evolving needs of data-driven marketing,” he says.

A trio of moves

Val Morgan Outdoor (VMO) has welcomed two new members to its New Zealand team, Tyler Christie and Rob Forsyth.

Tyler Christie, Rob Forsyth.

Christie joins as an account manager and brings industry experience with his most recent work being at Carat Auckland and Melbourne. About his new role, he says being an account manager at VMO is an extremely exciting opportunity as a sales focused role is something he’s worked towards since 2012.

The other new addition, Forsyth, joins as business development manager. He too brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and has a background in various commercial management roles across New Zealand and Australia, including APNO, iSite Media (now QMS).

In his new role, Forsyth will continue the development of the VMO Work network.

Meanwhile, Leigh Featherstone, formerly business development manager, has been appointed to the newly created role of operations manager in New Zealand.
