Sent in to Sentia

Sentia Media, formerly the Media Monitors group, has named David Schnellenberg as its new general manager in New Zealand. He will have overall responsibility for the company’s operations around the country.

For the past 20 years he has held senior marketing communication positions in New Zealand’s public and private sectors. Most recently he was the external communications manager for New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was also a former brand and communications manager for New Zealand’s largest energy company, Meridian Energy and from 2000-2007 he was general manager for leading brand strategy and design company, Maxim Group.

“I’m excited to be at the helm of this country’s leading media intelligence company and look forward to meeting the challenge of offering our clients the most timely and relevant insights amid a continually changing media landscape," he says.

Schnellenberg brings a strong customer focus and deep understanding of the communications and marketing needs of Sentia Media clients. Immediately following the catastrophic Christchurch earthquake, he volunteered to assist the Civil Defence emergency response operations. Because of his experience as a former director of public affairs and communications for the Ministry of Emergency Management, he was put in charge of managing the large media contingent, including organising press conferences and media tours to the most damaged areas of the city centre. In the eight days he was there over 1000 media (from New Zealand and around the world) passed through Christchurch and he says that this was one of the most rewarding and emotionally demanding things he has ever done.

He assumes responsibility for Sentia Media’s operations in New Zealand which includes providing corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations customised media intelligence services through Media Monitors, quick and effective tracking solutions with Slice, online business intelligence expertise through Brandtology, and specialist media coverage analysis and counsel with 360m, the world's most awarded media analysis and measurement company 2010-2012.

Good sports

Four months after starting up, Cooper Street Media has added a third title to the stable: SKY Sport -The Magazine.

The brainchild of Miles Gandy, Cooper Street Media allows publishers to "outsource their sales, while maintaining an emphasis on strong relationships with advertisers, low operational costs and high returns".

UK born Gandy had been involved with the New Zealand magazine industry for seven years working across FMCG, horticulture, agriculture and dairy, as well as finance, business, lifestyle and special interest publications.

SKYSport - The Magazine, which is published by the custom publishing division of Fairfax Media, joins NZ Geographic and FMCG at the media agency.

"With extensive experience in print, online, exhibition and event sales and brand strategy, Gandy is a valuable addition to the team. We whole-heartedly embrace his ability to deliver creative solutions to our clients and grow the publication,” says Grant Gallagher, general manager, Fairfax Custom Publishing.

Adding one

Digital sales house AD2ONE has welcomed Johanna Cotter as the head of sales for the New Zealand team.

This new role reflects AD2ONE’s growth locally and around the world. Already the New Zealand business represents websites, mobile sites and online video publishers with millions of unique users, including Ticketmaster, Cartoon Network, Expedia.co.nz and Reuters.

Initially she will cover for Lisa Ison, AD2ONE’s country manager, who is taking maternity leave.

Cotter brings ten years’ experience to the team and joins the company from YahooNZ, where she was group sales manager. Prior to that, she worked at Fairfax Media.

To good health

Local healthcare advertising agency Insight NZ has been invited to join the largest independent global network of entrepreneurial healthcare creative agencies, Indigenus.

Based in New York, Indigenus provides multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare companies with innovative multichannel communications with collaborative input from its worldwide creative agencies partners.

Indigenus chairman Rico Viray says Insight's win at the Global Healthcare Awards in 2011 and its ambition to be leaders in healthcare communications in New Zealand and Australia, mean it was the perfect partner to "help deliver our global creative offering.”

“Indigenus is all about using the flavours of the world to create fresh solutions for clients and I look forward to adding a little bit of kiwifruit and kumara into that mix," says managing partner David Anderson.

With offices in Auckland and Sydney, Insight offers healthcare clients traditional medical advertising services, full direct-to-consumer campaigns and now a suite of digital services, including social media engagement and iPad app development.
