New faces

NZME has announced three new hires to its senior commercial team.

Margaret Hawker joins as agency team lead – integration. Hawker has held senior key account and customer relationship roles at Bauer and NZME, and has recently been working at advertising and innovation agency Running With Scissors.

Andy Taylor has been appointed to the new role of trading director. Taylor has previously held roles as trading director at Carat in London before joining OMD in New Zealand to lead their investment portfolio. His most recent role was the national investment director for Publicis in Australia.

Hayley Braisby has been appointed to the role of Auckland team lead. Braisby joins from Warner Brothers, and has a strong TV background from her time at MediaWorks. Additionally, Paige Sundberg continues as Auckland team lead, adding to her agency portfolio.

Paul Hancox, head of revenue says the company is delighted to have Taylor, Hawker and Braisby join.

“They have very strong media backgrounds and are well regarded across the industry. We have also taken this opportunity to look at how we become a more agile senior team and align our talent more closely to their strengths by vertical.”

Property promotion

Beth Coulson has been appointed digital sales manager at property listing website realestate.co.nz.

The promotion from her previous role of digital business development manager is a culmination of eight years’ experience in media sales and account management with global companies such as Disney, Pandora Internet Radio, SITO Mobile, and Oracle USA.

Coulson says she is excited to support the further growth of the realestate.co.nz media team, driven in part by the high-level of customer service and the success of our data management platform.

A new independent agency, Charm, has been created by Jo Tacon, founder of production and design agency Paragon.Two, and its strategic director, Carren Richardson-Park, who brings a wealth of brand and direct experience, both agency and client side. The agency is based in central Auckland.

With a number of medium-sized businesses such as Plumbing World among its clients, Charm is providing a full-service offering without the large retainers often charged. 

“The name change from Paragon.Two to Charm is a reflection of how the business has evolved over the past two years, when Carren and I joined forces, developing into a deeper offering while inherently maintaining all the charm of its history,” says Tacon.

She says the goal is to be incredibly agile for its clients.

“We have brought together a small team of senior people to achieve that. It means we can apply a broad range of skills to execute virtually any project, with complete efficiency in terms of time and budget—whether that’s a marketing research project, a new website or a DM campaign.”

Another round of radio results brings with it the news that New Zealand radio is a steady business. Commercial radio has retained its 3.4 million New Zealanders (10+) tuning in each week, giving both MediaWorks and NZME reason to celebration. We break down the results to see how More FM, Magic and Coast had standout performances, while The Breeze and Mai lost some footing.
