Movings/Shakings: 12 July

Movin’ in

As we wrote back in May, Zenith Optimedia is moving into the Saatchi & Saatchi building as part of a global directive to co-locate the various Publicis Groupe-owned agencies and reduce costs.

“The move, while only a short hop in actual distance, is a giant leap in reality for ZO as we continue to establish a refreshed identity and build on recent successes,” says Sophia Quilian, general manager. “The team here is energised and champing at the bit to get into our own space.”

The agency was in the textile building in Parnell for 17 years, but the closure of Publicis Mojo at the end of last year made it untenable. It moves to its new space on July 31.

There are also a few additions to the team. Following the appointments of business directors Alex Lawson and Yvonne Barry at the start of the year, Joshua Turney (from Val Morgan); Juan Alfaro (ex-MPG Mexico and Paradice Iceskating) and Michael Lee (straight from university) have joined.

Yit Wong and Emily Swan have also been promoted to media manager and business director respectively. And the agency is currently on the hunt for one more senior planner buyer to complete the team.

Up the hill

Speaking of office moves, Bauer is starting its relocation from Beaumont St to the City Works development today, and it will soon have neighbours like Y&R, Brothers Brewery, Al Brown’s Best Ugly Bagels and Augusto.

The new address will be: Bauer Media NZ, Cityworks Depot, 90 Wellesley St West, Auckland 1010. There will be no change to the e-mails or phone numbers.

After Bauer purchased ACP, there was an expectation there would be a host of changes. But the office move, thought to be a significant investment of between $2-3 million, is one of the few things to be signed off by ze Germans so far, with Bauer basically leaving the relatively strong New Zealand business alone and focusing more on turning around the problematic Australian business. But there will no doubt be a few more changes to look forward to once it’s settled in to the new digs.

Tech head

The Sweet Shop has announced the addition of Fergus Cahill to the newly created role of head of integration and technology, which will allow it to “delve further into new digital and non-traditional spaces assisted by both UK based sister company The Rumpus Room and local partners”.

Cahill founded creative collective Manual in 2009, and has worked in a variety of digital capacities since then. This year Cahill was selected as one of Australian Creative’s “Power Top 20” and is regarded by his peers as someone who “navigates the interstitial space between traditional and new media production”.

“With increasing demand from agencies for us to be partnering as co-creators across many advertising platforms, we are thrilled that someone of Fergus’ calibre has joined us to lead this area of our business,” says executive producer Fiona King.

Back to the roots

Robert Munro, who was previously general manager of the NAB (now NewsWorks) has returned to his ad agency roots following a period consulting to agencies, media and pharmaceutical companies.

He has joined the Australian-owned H&T group, which specialises in health and rural communications, working in their Auckland office. The agency’s other offices are in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore.

Munro specialised in pharmaceutical marketing for nearly ten years at the CWFS agency, which was sold to McCann-Erickson and rebranded McCann Healthcare to help develop their Asia-Pacific healthcare network.

Turn it up

He’s a TEDxAuckland helper and co-founder of keepitblu.com. He also runs social and digital business Flitter with his wife Jen and the pair have recently worked with Shine.

Shaun Pettigrew has joined The Collective Force. His work includes producing and directing, but his first love is stills, with a keen focus on people that was born from his catwalk years. He has shot numerous campaigns throughout Asia-Pacific for brands such as Caltex, Canon, Corona, Levis and Singapore Airlines.

Digi-dogs

Wellington-based Heyrex, a Kiwi designed and made health-monitoring device that watches over your dog 24/7, has announced the appointment of Kim Goldsworthy to the role of general manager sales and marketing.

“With over 17 years experience within sales and marketing, Kim brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and a skill set that’s second to none,” says chief executive Nathan Lawrence. “We have no doubt Kim will prove to be an invaluable asset to the business. Kim joins us at a very exciting time as we’re launching our most exciting product yet, Heyrex. Kim has already become a crucial part of this launch and we’re looking forward to working with her insight and ideas on future products, too.”

Previously, Goldsworthy held the position of sales director at Warner Bros. Video Ltd, where she managed a team of national and key account managers.

Reseller reborn

After being shut down by Fairfax and handed back to license holder International Data Group (IDG), NZ Reseller News has announced the relaunch of its online brand.

According to a release, the new site is now run by a team of New Zealand editors and journalists covering the ICT industry and community, backed by IDG’s regional and global resources. And it features several new areas, including “a much expanded coverage of all sectors of the IT industry and an events listing facility”.

Allsop’s fable

Online media company Mi9 has appointed Rowena Allsopp account manager.

She is a new face in an existing role responsible for managing agency and direct sales on Mi9’s behaviourally targeted advertising network, Microsoft Media Network (MMN).

She joins Mi9 from media and digital communications giant Aegis, where she worked as a client relationship manager on the company’s digital trading platform, based in Sydney.

Earlier, Allsopp held media account management roles for Yahoo in both Australia and the UK.
