Saatchi & Saatchi has welcomed Shaun O’Connor back into the fold as digital creative director.

O’Connor started his advertising career with the agency, while the last 10 years of his career have been spent in Australia at agencies in Sydney, including Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA and most recently DDB, where he was creative tech director.

As digital creative director, O’Connor will be partnering Amanda Chambers, head of digital and content, who joined Saatchi & Saatchi in September.

Chambers says few people combine cutting edge tech, in-depth industry knowledge and the ability to apply it like O’Connor.

“I look forward to partnering with him to execute his vision. Together, we feel we can bring a fresh new approach to digital offerings here in New Zealand.”

O’Connor adds everyone that works in a creative field knows that New Zealand is second to none when it comes to innovative ideas without the “BS”.

“The environment Paul, Toby and Amanda are creating is one in which concepts can be developed, prototyped and taken to the world. Plus, any agency that made Clever Kash is an agency I want to work for.”

A growing presence

With Collective Linked by Isobar has announced the appointment of John Marshall to lead its New Zealand office in the role of client services director.

Marshall joins from Ogilvy & Mather in Sydney where he has worked for brands such as Lion, Coca-Cola, Nestle, Vodafone and Google. His work has been recognised at Cannes and in AdWeek, Mumbrella, Ads of the World, B&T and a raft of other TV, film and creative award shows. Most recently, he won the award for Advertising and Design categor in B&T's highly competitive 30 Under 30.


Justin Hind, John Marshall

The appointment follows the agency's launch of its Auckland office in August. Marshall will work closely with ANZ CEO Justin Hind and general manager Adam Parsons to lead the ASB account and drive the agency’s presence in New Zealand.

About the appointment, Hind says Marshall has had a lot of success in Australia with some of the country’s biggest brands and has the right level of passion, hunger and skill-set that aligns perfectly with the agency's vision of providing business strategy and creative, through to customer experience and optimisation.

“He will be a great leader for our New Zealand team.”

Marshall adds he is excited to be joining the team: “The chance to work on a brand like ASB and it makes the decision to move back home an easy one for me. I can’t wait.”

Moving up

Russell Fisher has been appointed the executive chief of sales for Yellow, a key role in the company as it pivots to become New Zealand’s largest digital agency for SMEs.

Fisher joined the company in March 2017 as head of sales and his elevation gives him responsibility for the national teams providing all sales and customer care services for Yellow.

He’s previously held senior leadership positions with large telecommunications companies in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Fisher says he’s proud to be part of the journey of helping customers optimise their print services and pivot toward a digital future.

“Yellow is a shop that’s always open, and I’m here to help business owners achieve success on their own terms, whatever their industry and wherever they are in the country. The measure of success will be when all our customers are our biggest advocates.”

Yellow’s CEO Darren Linton says Fisher has the skills and experience to ensure Yellow’s customers thrive.

“He deeply understands how to help businesses and their customers get the best out of digital services, and we are pleased that Russell is contributing his talents and energy to the Yellow vision.”

Crossing the ditch

Earlier this month, ASB executive general manager of marketing and communications Roger Beaumont announced his departure.

Beaumont has been with the bank since 2011 when joined from MediaWorks as executive general manager of marketing and online. It was July 2013 he stepped up to his current role.

He will now cross the ditch to be group head of corporate affairs retail for Westpac Sydney.

ASB's general manager of corporate communications, Christian May, is acting in Beaumont's role for the time being. There has been no announcement of a replacement yet.

Beaumont's departure was announced alongside that of CEO Barbara Chapman.

Chapman will leave the bank early next year and has not announced her next move.
