Who you gonna call? Kiwi horror movie creates ghost spotting app

We're quite partial to the Monster Detector app here at StopPress, which lets kids (and maybe a few adults) rest easy after a quick scan of the bedroom. And to promote the Halloween launch of indie New Zealand film The Deadroom, Centron Pictures and Stun have employed some similar technology, creating a 'paranormal investigation' app that shows ghostly activity in your photos.

The internet loves a good ghost shot, so to take part, users snap a photo of their surroundings, click a button and it shows up any "metaphysical abnormalities in your environment". Users are then asked to upload their images and share them on the movie's social hub. Everyone can vote on their favourite (surely the ghostly meatballs can't be beaten) to win some Whittaker's chocolate, which is of course renowned as the favourite sweet confection of those from another dimension.

Check out more about the film and download the app here
