Southern Cross adds Zoo to its agency roster

Southern Cross Health Society has appointed Zoo Auckland to its agency roster, meaning that the agency will work with the insurer on special projects specifically in the digital space.

Kelly Addis, the chief executive of Zoo, says that the appointment did not follow on from a pitch and instead came about due to the work the agency has been doing in the health insurance market across the ditch over the last decade.

Addis recently turned to Auckland to take up the reins at Zoo, after having spent 15 years in Australia, where he founded the The Boiler Room, a Melbourne-based agency that was subsequently sold to Zoo Advertising in 2013.

“Having Zoo Auckland appointed to Southern Cross Health Society, a NZ blue chip client (by any international advertising agency standard) is a great way to return home,” says Addis.

“I’m very grateful to have gone through a long and thorough due diligence process with Southern Cross. To have come out of that process, which began in July 2014 and to be deemed worthy of the Southern Cross standard is testament to the gravitas of the Zoo ANZ team. I understand that it is because of the work my former Melbourne team and the proven results in the highly competitive Private healthcare market in Australia during the last decade that largely contributed to our appointment in New Zealand.”

Given that the agency has offices across both sides of the ditch, it’s well placed to complete projects for the company on both sides of the ditch.

Creatively, Southern Cross has worked with Barnes, Catmur & Friends in recent years, and this partnership remains unchanged by the recent appointment of Zoo to its agency roster.
