Total Media starts the year off with a double

Zenith Optimedia lost the Motorcorp media account, which includes automotive car brands Jaguar, Land Rover, Renault and Volvo, around the same time Publicis Mojo was closed, something media director Sophia Quilian told us was not linked, just simultaneous. And, as suspected, the businesshas gone to Total Media, which has added to the good news for the start of 2013 by bringing Ziera Shoes into the fold.

“Ziera Shoes is a great local manufacturer New Zealand company with an exciting story to tell and we see lots of opportunity to drive business value [the incumbent was Hunter Media],” says Lyndsey Francis, managing director of the Omnicom-owned agency. “It’s also great to get an automotive client back into our portfolio and work with brands that are challenging the high profile manufacturers.”

According to a release, as well as being highly recommended, both clients felt that Total Media brought a unique market proposition to the table with a smart and service-driven locally-focused team.

New Zealand footwear company Kumfs Shoes rebranded as Ziera in 2010 with a newly designed product range, a remodelling of all 43 of its stores across Australia and New Zealand and a big marketing push. The whole rebrand was said to have cost around $8 million and Kumfs worked with brand strategy company Brian R. Richards, Saatchi Design Worldwide (which developed the new logo and brand look), .99/Colenso for the creative and Ice Interactive for the website.

It’s not clear what’s happening with the other half of the Motorcorp creative account following the closure of Mojo and whether it will go to Joy (a few we’ve spoken to have predicted it won’t). The now defunct agency won the business for all four brands but the account was split last year and Big was given Land Rover and Jaguar, with Mojo left to handle Renault and Volvo.
