Gardner turns Orange, Ogilvy turns White

After heading south to take up the role of general manager at Ogilvy Wellington a couple of years ago following the closure of Saatchi & Saatchi’s digital arm DGS, Tony Gardner will be heading north again to take on the role of chief executive of events specialists The Orange Group in Auckland. And his replacement has been named, with current general manager of M&C Saatchi Wellington Aaron White set to man Ogilvy’s fort.

“Tony has made a huge contribution to the agency over the last two years and is departing with the satisfaction of having genuinely strengthened our Wellington business,” says executive director Paul Manning. “I know Tony is most proud of the work he’s done to build a brilliant team and enhance even further our reputation for great work in the public sector. Tony is bloody good man, one of the nicest guys you’ll meet in the industry, and I wish him all the very best.”

Adding to that public sector roster, Manning says Ogilvy has also just won a significant new piece of central government business, but it can’t be announced just yet.

Taking over from Gardner will be Aaron White, who joins from his position as general manager of M&C Saatchi Wellington.

Prior to that, he spent seven very successful years with Aim Proximity, moving his way through the ranks from senior planner to the position of general manager.

“He brings an enviable depth of experience, impressing us with his intellect and enthusiasm. Aaron is a seasoned senior executive and we’re looking forward to having him on our team and leading our business in Wellington.”

Gardner is leaving his position on Friday 19 October and White joins from 5 November.
