Westfield’s inaugural breakfast seminar serves up a big helping of retail brain food

It’s pretty tough going in the retail sector at the moment. And, as the digital wave keeps breaking, it’s increasingly important to try and keep up with the play. And, thanks to Westfield, local retailers will be able to get their heads around some of the issues affecting the sector at the inaugural Retail Brain Food for Breakfast Seminar in Auckland next month.

Following on from the sell-out series in Australia last year, attendees will hear from four leading international retail experts on a range of topics, including worldwide digital and marketing trends, pricing and research.

The keynote speaker, Ruby Anik, is the former senior vice president of brand marketing for JC Penney, one of America’s largest multi-channel retailers. Anik will address the subject of “revolutionising retail” and share how she successfully re-branded the company to ensure it retained its competitive edge.

Also speaking at the event are Gwen Morrison, chief executive for Americas and Australasia of The Store in Chicago, Mike Lundgren, partner and director innovation strategy of VML Kansas City and John Bird, chief executive of IdeaWorks Sydney.

Westfield New Zealand director Justin Lynch says the three-hour seminar will be hugely beneficial to both New Zealand retailers and Australian retailers who have a presence in New Zealand.

“The Australian seminars were hugely popular, and we wanted to give New Zealand retailers the same opportunity to learn from the world’s best and allow them the opportunity to network with other retailers who are facing the same challenges on a day-today basis,” he says. “It’s really important, no matter what industry you’re in, to keep up with international trends and we’re confident this seminar will give these retailers the necessary tools required to grow their brands within New Zealand.”
