A pun, a poo and a winner: Green Party picks its favourite crowd-sourced copy

Last week, the Green Party put the call out to wordsmiths to share their ideas of copy they’d like to see on the party’s digital billboard network and this week, the campaign team chose a winner.

The winning copy belonged to movie critic Graeme Tuckett, whose phrase ‘Who are you going to wake up with on Sunday morning?’ ran on a major Auckland billboard this week.

Earlier this week, Green Party leader James Shaw also gave a nod to the copy appearing in front of the billboard for an impromptu photo shoot.

Greens communications coordinator Stephen Olsen says there was a “good response” from the community and the team had a number of great entries.

He also made special mention of the efforts sent in by freelancer Jake Morrison, long-form writer David Larsen and former TVNZ employee Peter Stevens.

Olsen says the first entry to come after the publication of the article on StopPress didn’t quite hit the mark, but still put a smile on faces of the team behind the scenes.

It seems ‘Two Ticks Blue, Rivers Of Poo’ didn’t quite meet the Greens’ objective to run a positive campaign.

Another good one that didn’t quite make the cut came from Tim Marshall and featured a decent pun: ‘To be Shaw for Change’.
