An end of an era

Jason Paris has resigned as Spark CEO of home, mobile and business.

He will leave the business early next year to take up a leadership position with a large global business, based offshore.

Paris was appointed as CEO of home, mobile and business in mid-2015, after holding various leadership positions since he joined Spark in 2011.

Spark managing director Simon Moutter says Paris is an extremely talented executive who embraces and shapes market trends, and puts the customer at the heart of the company’s products and services.

“In the six years Jason has been with Spark, we’ve seen an extraordinary improvement in market performance, particularly in mobile. Jason was also a pivotal player in the successful rebrand from Telecom to Spark and has more recently been a driving force in building a better digital experience for our customers.

“We are obviously very sad to see Jason go, but thank him for everything he’s done and wish him all the best with his next career move.”

As one door closes, another opens

TVNZ’s general manager of content solutions, Lyndsey Francis, finished up with the company last month.

She had been with the company since January 2014.

TVNZ general manager of corporate communications Georgie Hills told StopPress it’s not replacing the general manager of content solutions role.

“We’ve been working behind the scenes this year to streamline the way we’re set up so we can better respond to our customers’ needs.

“Our content solutions work, which includes programme partnerships and multi-platform campaigns, is now fully integrated into our commercial offering – and we’ll continue to draw on our Blacksand team’s leadership in creative, production and integration to produce stand out campaigns for our partners.”

Francis is now the director at Own Way Solutions, a company of her own creation that allows her to work around her own needs, while also working around the custom needs of marketers and production companies and agencies.

The company is about creating consumer value driven dialogue between creators, brands and platforms to build business growth for all.

While Own Way Solutions is currently just Francis, she does plan to collaborate with people in the future.

A double arrival

Digital specialist agency JustOne has strengthened its creative department with the appointments of Vikki Cheng to the role of art director and Begoña Mas as a copywriter.

Vikki Cheng and Begoña Mas

Prior to her new role, Cheng worked as a digital creative at Sugar and Partners for three years before being promoted to art director in 2013.

Mas has been also been working at Sugar and Partners since 2016, following time at Ogilvy & Mather and working in Prague and New York.

JustOne creative director Stu Hinds is thrilled with the new appointments saying the talented duo have strong local and international experience and will bring a whole new energy and creative skillset to the agency.

“We’ve had our eye on Vikki and Begoña for a while now and we are thrilled they are joining the team. They’ve already hit the ground running demonstrating immense talent, passion and drive, and I’m really excited for what we can offer our clients going forward.”

Cheng adds that they’re both excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, while Mas says they’re keen to sink their teeth into bringing their proactive ideas to live across JustOne’s clients.

New year, new role

Entertainment public relations agency 818 has a new publicity manager in Kate Jones.

Jones joins from the London where she worked in communications for BBC Worldwide. There she worked across a range of international markets on global TV brands such as Sherlock, Blue Planet II, Top Gear and Bake Off.

In her new role, she will work alongside managing director Chris Henry and campaign coordinator Orietta Adam.

Henry says Jones is incredibly well respected and admired by everyone that has worked with her both in New Zealand and abroad.

“It is so clear to me that she embodies the values and passions that we have at 818 and I can’t wait for her to join us in 2018 for what is set to be an incredible year for the business.”

About her move, Jones adds that 818’s entertainment projects makes it a very exciting opportunity for her.

“I’m looking forward to joining their talented team to deliver more fantastic campaigns in 2018.”

Jones steps into the role in 2018.
