FCB Media appoints Jenny Brown and James Butcher as group business directors

FCB Media has added two new faces to the team in group business director Jenny Brown and group digital business director James Butcher.

Brown steps into the role vacated by former group business director Sarah Beston, while Butcher enters a newly created role.

FCB Media managing director Rufus Chuter welcomed the arrival of the pair of experienced operators to the team.

“Jenny and James are two exceptional media leaders that bring experience, energy

and unique skills to the team,” Chuter said in a release.

“It’s testament to our model, vision and culture that talent of this calibre has chosen FCB to continue their stellar careers.”

Brown returns to FCB Media from her stint as general manager at Atomic 212, an independent media agency across the ditch.

She last worked at FCB six years ago, before moving to Sydney. During her time at Atomic, the agency won Australian Media Agency of the Year in recognition of strong revenue and new business growth.

In commenting on her return to FCB, Brown says: “FCB has always been an awesome agency backed by smart people and great clients. The recent diversification of FCB Media’s services and continuing strength of its integrated offering makes it really exciting to be back.”

The other new recruit, Butcher, arrives at the agency with extensive digital media experience across the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Returning to New Zealand in 2014, Butcher became general manager at Mi9 before moving to the position of national sales director and Pandora.

At Pandora, he drove 25 percent year-on-year revenue growth, launched the company’s programmatic offering and developed new commercial opportunities through partnerships across the music industry.

When Pandora shut the doors of its local office, there was a sentiment across the industry that it was a tough result for a sales team that was doing interesting work and gaining decent momentum in the local market.

Butcher is, however, ready to take on new challenges as he joins FCB Media.

“The opportunity to join the team at FCB was just too good to turn down,” he says. “An agency and group of people I have always admired for their culture as well as the quality of their work. What they have achieved to date speaks for itself, I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds for us.”
